The North Riverside area is a prime site and sits on the banks of the River Derwent running through the heart of the city centre.
This is a priority project within the development masterplan and is a unique opportunity to deliver a sustainable high quality mixed use development on brownfield land.
The redevelopment of this area will create a new city centre destination providing employment opportunities, a choice of housing, hotel and retail and leisure opportunities.
Proposals for the 17 acre site bounded by the river and St Alkmund's Way include;
- over 8,000 square metres of office space
- 390 new homes (including 117 affordable housing)
- A 4 or 5 star hotel with over 200 rooms
- Around 1,000 square metres of leisure use including a gym
- almost 1,000 square metres of new retail space
- 600 space multi storey car park
- Substantial public open space to increase the appeal incorporating bio-diversity features enhancing the banks of the river
- A new footbridge over the river to the Riverlights complex
Working closely with development partners it is intended that this scheme will set new standards of design ensuring that the style and designs of the new buildings are in keeping with this prime riverside setting.
