Employment Property Grants available for Derby city centre
The East Midlands Development Agency (emda) is encouraging development growth to create sustainable properties supporting the growth of skilled and high value added jobs in the East Midlands by injecting £35 million into a fund. The fund will focus on areas of high potential in the region including the recently designated growth points area of Derby.
The High Quality Employment Floor Space fund aims to create and encourage more employment by providing quality sites and buildings for regional businesses as well as attracting overseas investment.
Expressions of Interest must be received by emda before 18th February 2008.
Derby Cityscape are prepared to offer support wherever possible both in liaison with emda and assisting with application forms for developments which fall within the city centre’s Masterplan area.
Projects considered for funding will include;
Employment space in the key priority sectors of transport equipment, food & drink, construction and healthcare
Science and technology floor space that will assist in meeting the regional deficit and supporting growth in the knowledge economy
Incubator space for start-up companies particularly in the science and technology sector
Upgrading existing or commercially unattractive sites to increase high quality employment space
Grow-on space to support the development of the priority sectors and growing science and technology companies
Feasibility and planning studies for development of employment floor space
Applicants to this fund will need to demonstrate that proposed projects will promote high standards in their sustainability aspirations and deliverability as well as their potential to catalyse and encourage wider regeneration.
Grants will range from £250,000 and £5 million over the next three years. Lower value projects starting from £50,000 will also be considered for feasibility and planning studies for development of employment floor space.
