Derby Cityscape

URBAN regeneration company Derby Cityscape has appointed a new chairman.

Peter Richardson replaces Norman Askew as chairman.

Mr Askew had been chairman since March 2004 but said the role had become increasingly demanding as Cityscape competed for funds needed to regenerate Derby. He said he felt it better for the company for Mr Richardson to take over, as he had retired from his previous job at Derbyshire Building Society so he could commit more time to Cityscape. Mr Richardson had been chief executive officer for eight years.

He said: “Derby Cityscape has helped bring significant development to our city and I want to help drive change that builds upon all that solid work.

“I shall ensure we listen to the people and the leaders of the council so that we fully understand their aspiration.

“The next few years will be key for Derby's long-term future and I will do all I can to put us in the best shape possible for all of us.”

Derby Cityscape is spearheading the £2bn regeneration of Derby city centre.
