DRAFT proposals to improve access routes to Derby railway station will be go on public display in the autumn.

Derby Cityscape, the urban regeneration company which is spearheading a £2bn regeneration of the city centre, commissioned MVA Consultancy to develop a plan for the area around the station.

Part of its work has been to conduct a survey for views on how they would like to see access improved and to better understand the modes of transport favoured for travelling to and from the station.

The names of everyone contributing to the survey were entered into a prize draw and the winner was Robbie McDermott, of Duffield, who has won a £150 Westfield Derby giftcard.

Derby Cityscape chief executive John Cadwallader said: “The area around Derby station is an important part of the plans for the surrounding Castle Ward area and for the city as a whole.

“Improving transport links are a key element in the regeneration of the city centre as it is a major consideration for people living here, coming into the city for work and leisure and for companies and organisations looking to relocate here and invest in the city.

“The draft proposals are due to be published in the early autumn, when we will be consulting with key stakeholders and the general public for their views and feedback before any decisions are made.”
